HAM LAKE, Minnesota — Authorities are continuing to investigate a serious two-vehicle crash in Ham Lake that left four people injured, including a juvenile driver who was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of Crosstown Boulevard Northeast and Vickers Street Northeast. Deputies, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and air ambulance crews responded to the scene at approximately 3:36 p.m. after receiving reports of a head-on crash involving a sedan and a pickup truck.
A preliminary investigation determined that the sedan was traveling westbound on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast when it crossed the center line and entered the path of an eastbound pickup truck. The vehicles collided head-on, causing extensive damage and leaving multiple occupants injured.
Authorities said the juvenile male driving the sedan sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Two juvenile passengers riding in the sedan were also injured. Both were transported to area hospitals for evaluation and treatment, where officials said they were listed in stable condition.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Emergency responders worked quickly to stabilize the victims, secure the crash scene, and redirect traffic while investigators documented evidence and tow crews removed the heavily damaged vehicles. The intersection remained partially closed for an extended period as crews cleared debris and completed the initial investigation.
Investigators have not yet determined why the sedan crossed the center line. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including roadway conditions, vehicle speeds, and any other factors that may have contributed to the collision. Officials have not indicated whether impairment or distracted driving played a role, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Because the occupants of the sedan are juveniles, their identities have not been released.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators to come forward. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
The crash serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences that can result when a vehicle crosses the center line on a two-way roadway. Authorities continue to encourage motorists to remain attentive behind the wheel, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution, particularly when traveling through intersections and along busy roadways.
Community members have expressed concern and support for the injured victims and their families as they await further updates on the juvenile driver’s condition. Thoughts remain with everyone affected by this serious collision as the investigation continues.
