Those who knew her say her warmth and genuine smile left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten.
A Life That Began in Tuscarawas County
Carol Ann Staley was born on May 26, 1946, in Dennison, Ohio, to Charles and Betty Jones Ronald. Raised in Tuscarawas County, she grew up surrounded by family, lifelong friendships, and strong community values that stayed with her throughout her life.
She graduated from Tuscarawas Warwick High School in 1964, carrying with her a caring personality and a willingness to help others—qualities that would define both her personal life and professional journey.
A Marriage Built on Love and Partnership
On August 13, 1965, Carol married Richard R. “Rick” Staley, beginning a marriage that lasted nearly 43 years. Together, they built a home centered on family, respect, and shared experiences.
Although Rick passed away in May 2009, Carol continued to honor the life they built together. Their marriage reflected enduring love and partnership, and the memories they created remained deeply cherished throughout her life.
A Dedicated Presence in Dover City Schools
Carol devoted much of her working life to Dover City Schools, serving as a teacher’s aide at South School. She found joy in working with children and took pride in helping students grow academically and personally.
Her patience, encouragement, and steady presence made her a trusted figure among students, teachers, and parents alike. Beyond the classroom, she became a familiar and beloved face at school sporting events, where she spent years collecting tickets and welcoming families with her signature kindness and smile.
Faith and Community Service
Carol’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was an active member of First Moravian Church in Dover, where she participated in church activities and volunteered regularly.
She especially enjoyed events such as the church’s annual Chalk Walk, where fellowship and creativity brought the community together. Friends and fellow members remember her as thoughtful, compassionate, and quietly devoted to helping others without seeking recognition.
Family — Her Greatest Joy
While Carol gave so much to her community, her greatest joy was her family. She was a proud mother to her daughters, Stephanie Staley and Bethanie Moser (and husband Mike), and a loving grandmother who rarely missed a chance to attend school events, performances, or milestones.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Chanz (and wife Julie), Katina, Lauren, Tyler, Braxton, and Barrett, as well as her great-granddaughter Malie, who brought her great joy in her later years.
Family members describe her as a constant source of encouragement, love, and support whose presence made every celebration brighter and every challenge easier to face.
Friendships and Simple Joys
Carol treasured her friendships deeply. She enjoyed time with her longtime card club, where laughter and conversation were as meaningful as the games themselves. She also looked forward to regular breakfasts with close friends, cherishing the simple routines that strengthened lifelong bonds.
Hilton Head was one of her favorite destinations, a place she visited often to relax, enjoy the coast, and make lasting memories with loved ones.
A Lasting Legacy
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Rick, her parents, and her siblings Thomas Ronald, Woody Ronald, and Cyndi Seward.
She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors whose lives she touched through her kindness and steady presence.
Her funeral service was held at First Moravian Church in Dover, with Pastor Denny Rohn officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband at Dover Burial Park.
