It is with profound sadness that family, friends, and the Jackson, Missouri, community mourn the passing of Terry Lynn Jones, who died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 16, 1965, in Kennett, Missouri, Terry was the son of the late Junior L. Jones and Cleta Akers Jones. Throughout his life, he was guided by a steadfast Christian faith that shaped his character and provided strength through both life’s joys and challenges.
Terry devoted 30 years of distinguished service to Mercy Healthcare Systems in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he served as Director of Patient Access. His dedication to healthcare, compassionate leadership, and commitment to serving patients and colleagues earned him the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Terry was celebrated for his creativity, artistic eye, and love of making life’s special moments even more memorable. He found joy in decorating, creating beautiful floral arrangements, and celebrating holidays with family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and attention to detail brought happiness to those around him and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
On September 23, 2017, Terry married his beloved husband, Douglas Turner, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Their marriage was built on love, companionship, unwavering support, and shared devotion, creating countless cherished memories together.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Junior L. and Cleta Akers Jones, and his brother, Danny Lee Jones of Sullivan, Indiana.
He leaves behind his devoted husband, Douglas Turner; brothers-in-law David and Marilyn Turner, and Dennis and Regina Turner; along with numerous extended family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory and the kindness he shared throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Missouri, with Joe Rowley officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In honor of Terry’s compassionate spirit, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Missouri in lieu of flowers.
