Dylan Perkins Obituary, Death: 26-Year-Old Glenwood Man Killed in Fatal Shooting Outside Amazon Fulfillment Center

MATTESON, Illinois — Dylan Perkins, 26, of Glenwood, Illinois, died Sunday night following a shooting outside an Amazon Fulfillment Center in Matteson, according to the Matteson Police Department and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 10:54 p.m. outside the facility located at 7001 Vollmer Road. Responding officers found Perkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near the employee entrance. He was transported to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he was later pronounced deceased despite emergency lifesaving efforts.

Investigators reported that the shooting followed an altercation between Perkins and a food delivery driver in the employee parking lot. According to police, the confrontation escalated from an argument into a brief physical struggle before the delivery driver allegedly fired multiple shots and fled the scene. The suspect has not yet been apprehended, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Matteson police in reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as part of the active investigation. Officials have stated that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Amazon confirmed Perkins was working at the facility as a third-party vendor and issued a statement expressing condolences to his family and coworkers.
