Kasyn Hollinger Obituary, New Madison, OH Death: 19-Year-Old Died from Injuries After Fatal Darke County Dirt Bike Crash

NEW MADISON, Ohio — Family members, friends, and the Darke County community are mourning the loss of Kasyn Hollinger, 19, of New Madison, who died after suffering critical injuries in a dirt bike crash in Harrison Township. His death marks the second fatality resulting from the early Friday morning collision that also claimed the life of 21-year-old Ian Dixon of Hollansburg.

According to an update from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Hollinger died Sunday at a Dayton-area hospital after being airlifted from the crash scene by MedFlight for emergency treatment.

Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. Friday on Richmond-Palestine Road, north of Downing Road, in Harrison Township, about 12 miles southwest of Greenville.

Investigators reported that Dixon was operating a northbound 2005 Honda CRF250 while Hollinger was riding a southbound 2014 KTM 350 SX-F. Preliminary findings indicate the KTM crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Honda. Following the impact, both dirt bikes left the roadway in opposite directions.

Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. Hollinger was transported to Kettering Health with life-threatening injuries, where he later died on Sunday despite medical efforts.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Troopers have stated that alcohol impairment, speed, and helmet use are among the factors being examined, though no final determinations have been made.

Authorities also confirmed that a third individual allegedly fled the scene on foot following the collision and was later located beneath a bridge by responding deputies. Additional details regarding that individual’s involvement have not been released.

The deaths of Hollinger and Dixon have left their families, friends, classmates, and the wider Darke County community grieving the loss of two young men whose lives ended far too soon. Tributes continue to be shared in their memory as loved ones offer support to both families during this difficult time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as investigators continue to examine the events leading up to the fatal collision.

Funeral and memorial service arrangements for Kasyn Hollinger are expected to be announced by his family at a later date.
