According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:24 a.m. following reports of a serious traffic collision on Industrial Boulevard.
Preliminary findings indicate that Joshua Burkhart was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when, for reasons that investigators have not yet determined, the motorcycle crossed the center line into the southbound lane.
The motorcycle then collided head-on with an oncoming Chrysler 300, resulting in catastrophic damage and a large emergency response.
Motorcyclist Dies at the Scene
Emergency responders arrived quickly and found Burkhart suffering from severe injuries.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chrysler, identified by authorities as Gregory Baker, 50, of Eubank, Kentucky, was not injured during the collision.
