MATTHEWS, North Carolina — Family, friends, and the Monroe community are mourning the tragic loss of Jonathan Tyler Hill, who died Wednesday night after a devastating four-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Matthews. He was 40 years old.
According to the Matthews Police Department, the fatal collision occurred on the evening of July 1, 2026, at the intersection of East John Street and McKee Road. The crash remains under active investigation as authorities continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly incident.
Fatal Four-Vehicle Collision
Emergency dispatchers received reports of a serious crash at approximately 9:34 p.m., prompting officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel to respond immediately to the scene.
When first responders arrived, they discovered a complex collision involving four vehicles, including the motorcycle operated by Jonathan Tyler Hill. Hill was found unconscious and suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Members of Matthews Fire & EMS immediately began advanced life-saving measures in an effort to save him. Despite their efforts, Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.
