AUBURN, Kentucky — The Auburn and Logan County communities are mourning the passing of Addison McKenzie Connelly, age 19, who died on June 28, 2026. Born on March 8, 2007, she is being remembered as an exceptional young leader, elite student-athlete, and inspiring presence whose influence reached far beyond her school and athletic achievements.

Addison’s life was marked by discipline, determination, and a consistent drive for excellence. She attended Auburn Elementary, Logan County High School, SKYCTC, Kentuckiana Real Estate Academy, and KSCORE – Keller Successful Career Opportunities in Real Estate. Throughout her academic journey, she was recognized for her leadership qualities, strong work ethic, and commitment to personal and team success.

A highly accomplished member of JROTC, Addison served as Battalion Executive Officer (XO) and Raider Commander for the LCHS JROTC Corps. In these roles, she was respected for her leadership, integrity, and ability to motivate others. She also competed at the national level as a Raider Nationals competitor and earned distinction as a two-time Kentucky State Air Rifle Champion. Her achievements included winning the Sgt. Maj. Paul C. Gray Memorial Invitational, where she placed first individually and helped lead her team to a historic championship victory.

In athletics, Addison was a dedicated varsity runner for the Lady Cougars Cross Country and Track teams. Known for her endurance, discipline, and competitive spirit, she consistently encouraged her teammates and led by example. Her performance at the Warren East Raider Twilight Run, where she recorded a time of 25:02.64, reflected both her strength and leadership on the course.

Beyond her accomplishments, Addison is remembered most for her kindness, warmth, and uplifting personality. Friends, teammates, and instructors describe her as someone who inspired those around her through encouragement, positivity, and determination. Her presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving parents, Miranda and Dustin Connelly; her siblings Bayleigh and Abel; and her extended family, including grandparents, great-grandparents, relatives, and a wide circle of loved ones who will cherish her memory.

Funeral services are scheduled for July 1, 2026, at Kirby Funeral Services in Russellville, Kentucky, followed by burial at Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Addison McKenzie Connelly Legacy Scholarship, established to honor her memory and support future students.
