TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — Ridge Reichman, 18, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday evening following a two-vehicle collision in Lawrence Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that Reichman was operating a 2021 Nissan Altima when it collided with a 2019 Ram 1500 at the intersection of County Road 103 (North Orchard Road) and Township Road 1277 (Northwood Avenue). The pickup truck was driven by 27-year-old Skylar Nelson of Bolivar.
Following the crash, Reichman was transported to Mercy Hospital for emergency medical treatment. He was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
Nelson and a passenger in the pickup truck were not injured, officials confirmed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, authorities have not released additional details regarding contributing factors or the sequence of events leading to the collision.
Reichman’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and members of the New Philadelphia community, who are mourning the loss of a young life cut short.
The investigation remains ongoing.
