Fatal Collision Near Weering

Emergency services were dispatched at approximately 5:15 p.m. following reports of a serious collision near the intersection of Colac-Ballarat Road and Barpinba Road in Weering, about 30 kilometres north of Colac and close to the township of Cressy.

According to Victoria Police, the crash involved a ute and a passenger vehicle.

The drivers, who were each travelling alone, suffered critical injuries and, despite the efforts of emergency responders, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later confirmed the victims were a 57-year-old man from Redan and a 70-year-old woman from Beeac.

Investigation Underway

The collision caused extensive front-end damage to both vehicles, with one of them coming to rest off the roadway near a paddock.

A large police exclusion zone was established while specialist collision investigators documented the scene, examined physical evidence, and began reconstructing the events leading up to the crash.

At this stage, investigators have not determined what caused the collision.
